The Nutshell by Orin DayDuke defeated Temple 64-53 tonight to win the Reef Division of the Paradise Jam. Duke's bench was the story in the first half, outscoring Temple's entire team 25-23, and Duke led 32-23.
Chante Black, hampered by first half foul trouble, bounced back to score all of her 13 points in the second half, and Carrem Gay notched an impressive 13 point/12 rebound double-double in just 24 minutes of play.
Duke will face UConn, the winner of the Island Division, at 8:30 PM on Sunday. Both teams will have a day off Saturday, and we'll add a preview soon.
Abby Waner did not return to action while Coach P described Wanisha Smith as "at 50%" in tonight's victory.
