unfortunately bit on), but Joy did at least grab 7 rebounds in her 28 minutes. |

dominance. She had 7 offensive boards, a couple of which led directly to
scores. Mitchell's 2 treys were (incredibly) a career high, but she did her
real work was at the foul line, where she went 6-8. Mitchell did have 3
turnovers in the second half, but they were mostly errors of commission. More
impressively, Mitchell's defense on Waters took Wake's leading scorer out of
the game. This was a game where Bridgette's usual energy was fully harnessed
and under control. It's never been a matter of physical ability for Bridgette,
but rather decision-making. If she matches her energy with this level of focus,
she will continue to have a very successful senior year.

bench with two fouls. She made up for that in the second half with her
expected ultra-high energy, grabbing 4 rebounds and picking off 2 steals. She
scored on a stickback and a drive in the second half, and also had a pass to
Mitchell for a score. Her most impressive play was sending back a shot by
Durham native Asia Williams that Duke controlled. |

She used her size advantage to
great effect against 5-4 Wake point guard Brooke Thomas, who was pretty much a
non-factor despite her speed. KJ's two early jumpers pushed Duke to the lead,
but it was her defense and rebounding (6 boards) were especially impressive.
Jackson is getting more and more comfortable as a starting guard, trying to
avoid taking bad shots and set up good ones. |

committing 4 turnovers. She did make her presence felt in energizing Duke's big
first-half run, scoring 11 points in just six minutes of play. That included a
couple of short jumpers, a three, a steal & layup and a couple of free throws.
She missed a number of shots in the second half, but did hit a crucial long
jumper to stem one of Wake's runs. Jasmine also had big assists to Jackson and
K.Thomas after another Wake run. |

Wake's double-teams reduced her to a single shot: a desperation three. She did
managed a block and a couple of rebounds, but she was mostly a very tall decoy.
She was a key player for Duke in the second half, posting up much harder &
quicker and getting great-looking shots as a result. Thomas may have gained
confidence with her shot-blocking in the second half, as she made things
difficult for Wake after a period where they got to the basket any time they
wanted. The big negative in the second half was her going 0-4 from the line. |
