Of course, for her, that still means 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. However, she was beaten to a number of rebounds and some careless turnovers. She made bad passes, fumbled the ball out of bounds a couple of times and didn't always seem locked into the play. That was especially true when the score started to get out of hand. To her credit, she refocused and helped lead the charge early in the second half. Her ability to run the floor seemed to catch Pitt by surprise; it's one thing to know that she's fast, it's another to see this in action. |

In the second half, she scored on another cut, hit a tough bank shot and scored on a drive to become the sixth Duke player in double figures. Peters was impressive with 8 rebounds, and she really dug into to get a number of them. |

Her superior size and ability to set her feet off the pass (all of her shots were assisted) made her tough for Pitt to stop. Throw in a couple of steals, two assists that triggered fast breaks, a transition finish of her own and a couple of foul shots, and you have a solid all-around game. |

Pitt had trouble dealing with her ball pressure, speed and aggressiveness. Most of her assists were in the halfcourt--a three to Gray, an up to Peters, etc. There was a simple efficiency to her game that made her performance especially appealing, a quiet confidence where she knew that she could dominate her opponent and then went right out and did it. |

Gray also had 6 steals and I joked that she should try harder next time to get the quadruple-double. Gray did admit that she was put back into the game in the second half when she was just a couple of rebounds away from the impressive statistical feat, and she just went hard to the boards. What was great about the triple double was that it was so natural and fluid. She had assists to 6 different players and many of them were incredibly creative bounce passes and thread-the-needle jobs. To the their credit, her teammates were well-prepared to accept her passes. Offensive, Chelsea drained a couple of threes, finished twice in transition and scored on a couple of other drives. It was a fluid, comfortable performance from a player who was fully plugged into the proceedings. |

For some reason, she rushes shots just a tad and takes some of them at awkward angles. This is especially true at the foul line, where a player who's a good shooter like Richa should be cleaning up; instead she was just 2-5 in this game. She did score 5 quick points and had 7 at the half, using her size and quickness to good effect at both ends with runners and drives. Jackson has always been very unselfish, and in this game she found Liston and Scheer for threes. Her on-ball defense was tough as she came up with 4 steals and triggered a couple of fast breaks with them. This is nitpicking a solid showing, but Jackson has the potential to be a dominant player but isn't quite there yet. |

She barely played at all in the second half. I understand that Henson needed some more run, but I would have liked to have seen Alli used in different combinations with other players. |

She sank a couple of treys, scored on a cut and finished a high-low play from Henson. She hit the offensive boards hard, finding Peters while falling down after grabbing a carom. Scheer was the last of Duke's players to get into double figures in scoring, and it's a testament to her hustle that she made a number of those opportunities happen. |

Coach McCallie noted that she's been practicing full time of late, but it's obvious that she's behind her teammates. The good news is that she got a lot of playing time to work out some kinks. She was 0-5 from the field but they were all good shots--none of them went in. A couple were good-looking jump shots that just missed, while others were 1-footers that she simply pushed a bit. The most encouraging part of this game for her was the fact that she tallied 3 assists. That included 2 to shooters Liston and Scheer and 1 inside to Scheer on a high-low. Amber is a skilled and athletic player, and I hope to see her play more minutes. |
