She had 8 points in the first half and then scored 5 quick ones in the second half. Kentucky's Azia Bishop shut her down in the half court after that, blocking several of her shots and pushing her out. Williams did have one incredible play where a Kentucky player rebounded a Duke miss but brought the ball done. Liz simply reached in and ripped the ball out of her hands and laid the ball in. Overall, her 17 points and 6 boards were solid, but she had some key turnovers and missed shots at times when Duke really needed them. Her teammates did not do a very good job of helping her out when the double-teams started to come in the second half, and this is something that must be addressed immediately as every opponent will no doubt adopt this strategy in order to stop her. |

She took advantage of Kentucky sagging off of her to hit a number of short jump shots, scoring an impressive 13 points. She was decent on the boards. The problem was that her ballhandling was not up to dealing with Kentucky's pressure, and the result was 8 turnovers. Again, she shouldn't have been in a position where she had to handle the ball as much as she did, and Duke never adjusted in order to prevent this from happening. |

Kentucky had no one who could deal with her thanks to her size. She had 8 points at the half but was largely neutralized in the second half until she hit a big three late in the game.

Wells and Gray were outplayed by Bria Goss & A'Dia Mathies; that duo scored 42 points to Wells and Gray's 11. Chloe and Chelsea did combine for 7 assists but also had 6 turnovers. Chloe in particular was weak with the ball, as many of her turnovers came from drives without a plan and dribbles that were batted away. She didn't score effectively and had great difficulty containing her opponent. This game spotlighted the fact that Chloe's lack of physical strength and small stature are a liability against certain opponents. She did make some nice plays and hit a couple of crucial shots in the second half, but that was after a bad first half where she wasn't able to step up when Gray went to the bench. Wells is still very much learning on the job as a starter, and not having the cushion of Shay Selby playing behind her hurt Duke in this game. |

She simply didn't do this frequently enough. Kentucky was unable to turn her over or stop her, but she didn't demand the ball nearly enough. Four shots for a player of her caliber is crazy, and that's a tribute to the way UK was blanketing her. However, since it was obvious that Duke was more effective when she had the ball, Wells should have made certain that Gray had the ball more often than not. Anytime Gray didn't have the ball was a small victory for Kentucky. If Gray is going to live up to her potential, she simply has to become more selfish. |

However, Jackson, like many of her teammates was frequently weak and indecisive with her dribble. There wasn't always a plan when she had the ball in her hands, and that reliance on sets & structure hurt the team in this kind of situation. |

I would have liked to have seen her in the game with Williams for longer stretches; their size and speed might have been the key to stopping all of those easy second chance points. |
