She moved quickly and decisively to the basket without rushing her shots, and the result was plenty of easy baskets. Most of her baskets were simply post-ups and stickbacks, but she also scored in transition and (promisingly) hit a turnaround jumper from 10'. Defensively, Upstate didn't even bother trying to attack her inside, but she still managed a spectacular block. She had some nice passes in this game, hitting Liston on a cut, Peters on a give-and-go and Vernerey after she came up with a steal. For Liz, it's all about comfort and confidence, and she displayed both in this game. |

Her 4 turnovers point to the fact that she sometimes dribbles into trouble; other times, she's just weak and indecisive with the ball. The good news is that overall, she's far more aggressive and decisive on offense and it's showing in the way she's posting up, taking short jumpers and even expanding her range out to the three point line (2-4 in this game). More importantly, she's doing the work on the boards and playing great defense. She's in the process of becoming a primary option on offense instead of just a safety valve. |

She short-armed a perfect pass for a layup and missed several jumpers. Her only score came on a 1-on-3 fast break where she simply busted through contact for a three point play. Jackson played solid defense but was one of several players who seemed to float a bit, which was surprising given that she should have been pumped up after being tabbed to start. |

In addition to a couple of strips for layups, she nailed a three and had a great hesitation move off the dribble that forced the defender to fly by before she drove in for the score. Her 7 steals were especially impressive, disrupting Upstate's offense on a constant basis. Her 5:1 assist/turnover ratio was another positive after not being strong with the ball against Kentucky.

She started the game by nailing a three and only took three more shots the entire rest of the game. Her other score came on a stickback plus the foul. She carved Upstate with her passing, but occasionally looked to be in a fog when attacking off the dribble. She just didn't seem to be as fully engaged as I've seen her early in the year, continuing a trend from the Kentucky game. Hopefully, getting finals over with will allow her to lock in and dominate. |

She nailed a bank shot, scored on a drive, finished a fast break & drew the foul and later finished again in transition. She was even more impressive on defense, bodying up anyone who tried to come inside and even blocking a shot. It was her most impressive and decisive game of the year and her best overall since early last season. |

However, she did her usual nice job of moving without the ball on offense (she's better at that than anyone else on the team), nailed an early three, found Henson with a beautiful pass and finished a cut on a great pass from Williams. This was a game where others got a chance to get extended minutes, but there's no question that Tricia is still a key player because of her ability to score in a number of different way. |

She had a stickback and then sank three consecutive free throws. She was all over the offensive boards and played with her usual high level of intensity. Even when she's missing shots or making a mistake, Vernerey is always incredibly passionate on the floor. That passion often rubs off on her more subdued teammates, especially since she's always encouraging regardless of how much playing time she's receiving. |

It showed, as she looked more focused and dialed-in than at any other time during her career. That paid off with her spectacular steal & layup, but she also had 3 boards, played excellent defense and overall just had a strong presence on the floor. I'm not sure she's a candidate for extended playing time in a real game, but the fact that she was the second sub off the bench in the second half showed that she was ready for prime time. Given that it may be unlikely that Shay Selby returns to the team, Duke could use another ballhandler/defender out on the perimeter. |

She didn't shoot well from the perimeter but did score on a cut and drive. She also found Peters and Wells for threes. Her length allowed her to successfully flood the passing lane for several turnovers. It doesn't look like she has quite the lift I saw earlier this summer, but her athleticism and potential versatility make her a player who needs minutes in order to become comfortable. As long as she maintains focus and intensity, she'll be in good shape to get minutes. |
