player to record a triple double, and the first to do it with
points-rebounds-blocks. She rejected shots by each of Wake's five starters and blocked Sandra Garcia five times! What's scary about this performance is that it
could have been even more dominant if she had hit some of her easy first
half shots (I counted three missed layups) and sank some more of her free
throws. She also dropped a few passes and traveled a couple of times. She
was so dominant that she could have easily scored 30 points. What was
really encouraging about her game was that she's starting to find open
teammates when she's double-teamed, something she wasn't doing earlier in
the year. Her 4 assists were part of the team's 22 dishes on 27 field
goals, which is an impressive number. Some of her turnovers come from her
being so excited that she isn't fully aware of her environment, like when a
player comes from behind her to slap the ball away. Once she got going in
transition and in the post, she was simply a tank rolling over her
opponents. Liz held Garcia (Wake's leading scorer) to 0 points on
0-11 shooting. Wake simply had no answer for Williams. |

establishing Duke's lead in the first half. She scored 10 of Duke's last
12 points in the half. The only other basket was a stickback of a Peters
miss. I liked the way Haley got a lot more physical in this game than in
other contests. She seemed much more eager to mix it up inside on defense,
assisting Williams on pressuring opponents in the post. She also grabbed a
number of rebounds, though coach McCallie noted that she wants her to
average close to a double-double. She's not there yet, but this game
displayed how she's evolving; for example, she took a charge in this game. |

attacking the basket, grabbing rebounds and moving the ball around. She
really has a nose for the basket and likes contact as she drives to the
basket. She scored 8 of Duke's first 12 points and her aggressiveness was
welcome at the beginning of the game, where other Duke players tend to sit
back and see how the action is unfolding. |

of the game as a result. She hit a big three in the second half that put
the game completely out of reach, but her turnovers were especially
careless. I expect her to come out firing in the next game. |

She frequently
melted down against Wake's pressure and threw some terrible passes as a
result. She was one of the players who was most badly burned by Lakevia
Boykin, losing her a number of times on the perimeter. She did drain a
long three in the second half and had a number of slick assists, as well as
taking a charge, but her all-around game just wasn't there. That said, she
did have a crucial three point play in the second half that helped break
Wake's back. |

game rhythms. Her miscues led directly to Wake points. On the other hand,
she was aggressive going after rebounds, drained a trey, ran the floor well
and was unselfish in distributing the ball. While one would like her to be
more efficient, she did shoot over 50% and didn't have as many turnovers as
most of her teammates. She has the potential to be a major weapon off the
bench. |

bench. She actively hunted her shot and was able to get it off quickly. She also
did a nice job passing the ball, finding Peters and Jackson
for baskets. It must also be mentioned that she drained both free throw
attempts and is starting to look much more comfortable at the line. |

fumbled a rebound out of bounds), Leener gave Duke some solid minutes. She
hit a couple of short jumpers and set the pace in the way she scrapped
after the ball. If she can cut down on her errors, then Scheer will truly
be giving Duke maximum value for her minutes, because her court awareness
has become quite sharp over the last couple of years. She's someone who
can make plays at key times, and the time will come this season when Duke will need her to do so. |

at backup guard, but she was still fairly solid during her short stint.
She was physical and grabbed 4 rebounds, and drained 2 free throws after
being hammered after one board. Like her teammates, she had trouble
holding on to the ball. |
