JOEL COLISEUM -- Duke scored 28 points off 23 Wake Forest turnovers, as the Blue Devils rolled to their fourth straight victory Thursday night in Winston-Salem. The Devils had four players in double figures, led by Azurá Stevens' 24 points. The much-anticipated duel between Elizabeth Williams and Wake's Dearica Hamby was "won" by Hamby, who had 18 points and 10 rebounds compared to Williams' 13 and 4. However, this was largely because Hamby was at times the only offense for the Demon Deacons. After Hamby, the next highest scorer for the Deacs was sophomore Mykia Jones, who scored 9 points despite chipping a tooth after taking a Williams elbow to the face.

Duke dominated the paint, outscoring Wake Forest 38-24 despite the exit of Oderah Chidom, who apparently aggravated her previously injured left shoulder. That battle was equal parts Duke post dominance and easy, open driving lanes to the basket. On the other end of the floor Duke's relentless defense stifled the already-struggling Wake offense.

Top Performers

  1. Azurá Stevens, Duke: 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals. Stevens owned the first half, scoring 16 by the halftime buzzer. Only a freshman, and already a problem for ACC defenses.

  2. Dearica Hamby, Wake Forest: 18 points, 10 rebounds. Poor Dearica. Perhaps if Chelsea Douglas had one more year, this season wouldn't be the nightmare it has become. She has no help, offensively, when they play good ACC defenses.

  3. Elizabeth Williams, Duke: 13 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists. Life is good when you get Ka'Lia Johnson and Rebecca Greenwell to pick up the offensive slack. The Devils had to be good on defense to make sure Wake didn't get hot from 3, and Williams led that defensive charge.
