For 12 days DWHoops will count down the ACC with three items about each team - including factoids, new players to note, trends or other observations. We continue today with Clemson.

Clemson

DWHoops ACC Prediction: #10

  1. They have a real starting five. After years of patching together lineups with undersized forwards in the post and two-guards playing point, Cristy McKinney finally has some talent that fits their positions. Frosh point Keyrra Gillespie has proven to be an excellent passer (if turnover prone) and soph center Shaniqua Pauldo has demonstrated that she can score in the low post. Along with star wing Lele Hardy, the Tigers are no longer bringing knives to a gunfight.

  2. They can't defend. Granted, it doesn't help one's statistical bottom line when you play the UConn juggernaut, but the Tigers are last in the ACC in scoring differential, FG% defense and #11 in defensive three point FG%. Hardy generates a lot of steals, but this group needs to find a way to clamp down.

  3. They can't rebound. This is especially true on the offensive boards. Clemson isn't getting many second shots, which has been a big reason why some opponents can shut them down for long periods of time.
