A recent article in the Duke Chronicle noted that certain lower level sections would be sold for Duke Men's Basketball games due to lack of undergraduate attendance. If student support for Men's Basketball has fallen, for Women's Basketball it has plummeted. Below, I offer for comparison photos of the lower left "TV side" section from Duke Women's Basketball games against Maryland played in January 2007 and January 2012. We indeed saw full stands this year, but hardly a student in sight...

Outside of the band and cheerleaders, no Duke student support. Excluding those official Duke groups, I daresay that Maryland students showed more school spirit last Sunday in Cameron. And that was embarrassing, and sad. We hope the student turnout for upcoming games against UConn and North Carolina will be better, matching the great support that the Duke and Durham community are giving this year's team.
