Celebrating Our Third Anniversary Covering Duke Women's Basketball and the ACC

Welcome to DWHoops! We are pleased to be entering our fourth full year of providing free full coverage of Duke Women's Basketball. For each Duke home game our coverage typically includes photos, game recaps, stats, and detailed player-by-player reviews. We also provide coverage of road games and the Women's ACC Tournament.

DWHoops is entirely member supported. All levels of DWHoops membership include enhanced photo galleries and email updates, while DWHoops Gold members receive printable versions of our best photos and access to an exclusive message board. For information on joining DWHoops, click here.

DWHoops is published by Orin Day, a 1991 graduate of Duke University. Orin began writing about Duke basketball in 1990, building a "dukehoops" broadcast mailing list that grew to over 1,000 subscribers. Orin began taking informal photos of Duke Women's Basketball in 2002, primarily for parents and friends, and things took off from there. In addition to DWHoops, Orin's photos have been published in the Duke Women's Basketball Media Guide, ACC Basketball Handbook, and on SportsPageMagazine.com. Orin was a member of the planning committee for the 2009 4Kay Golf Classic benefiting the WBCA/Kay Yow Cancer Fund, writing press releases published on TheACC.com and WBCA.org websites. Orin lives in Durham with his wife Karen and son Joey. Away from the court, Orin works at RTI International providing computing support for large survey research projects. He is active in Epworth United Methodist Church, serves on the board of the Duke Wesley Fellowship, and is a Wolf Den Leader in Durham Cub Scout Pack 451. Orin has always loved pinball and is an avid collector of games, following eight years of work in the pinball industry as a programmer and game designer.

Rob Clough is DWHoops Senior Editor. Also a 1991 Duke graduate, Rob has been covering Duke Women's Basketball in various forms since 1994, and still has Ali Day's game-winner against UNC permanently etched into his brain. He has previously written for GoDuke.com, ACC Basketball Handbook, FullCourtPress, Women's Basketball Magazine, dukies.com, and other Duke-related websites. Rob has also been a frequent editoral contributor to the Duke Women's Basketball Media Guide and has represented DWHoops on the ACC Blue Ribbon Panel, casting votes for all-conference and player/rookie of the week honors. Since graduation Rob has worked for the Duke Cancer Center by day, fighting cancer with statistics. Rob also writes about art comics and funky music in various places around the web. Rob lives in Durham with wife Laura Jent and daughter Penni.

DWHoops unique format was designed by Orin and Rob, then laid out and programmed by Orin from scratch using tools including PHP and MySQL. DWHoops photo galleries are produced using BreezeBrowser and PhotoMechanic software, while DWHoops website is hosted by DreamHost.

While DWHoops wouldn't be able to function without financial support of our members, we couldn't cover Duke Women's Basketball without the gracious ongoing cooperation of Duke Athletics. We're always grateful for the continuing support that Duke Sports Information gives us, in particular the friendship and help from Duke WBB SID Lindy Brown. We're also thankful for the cooperation and/or encouragement from many Duke coaches and staffers past and present, including head coaches Joanne P. McCallie, Debbie Leonard, and Gail Goestenkors, former assistants Gale Valley and Joanne Boyle, and staffers Bobby Sorrell and Lauren Rice. Many others have helped us and we thank all of you, especially Lindsey Rogers at the ACC, Barry Uhrman, James Armstrong, and Max Turner of Max Turner Photography in Durham.

Last but not least, we thank the athletes who have played or continue to play Duke Women's Basketball, and their families near and far. If DWHoops can be an accurate, informative, entertaining, and lasting record of their efforts and careers, then we've succeeded.
