The Nutshell:
This is a night where Duke took what Georgia Tech's defense gave them, and
they took advantage of it in spades. Duke hit 10 of 16 threes on the night
against Tech's 3-2 matchup zone, but it was their intensity on defense that
Coach G was most pleased about. A game after a sluggish effort against
Virginia Tech, Duke had an attack mindset from the beginning. The
Devils broke
out to a double-digit lead ten minutes into the game and kept building it
steadily. Abby Waner had 15 first half points and a career-high 27 for the
game, nailing 6 of her 7 treys. Lindsey Harding dominated at both ends
with 16
points and smothering defense on Tech sharpshooter Chioma Nnamaka. The two
squads combined for 50 turnovers and 38 fouls, but Duke's 58% shooting
from the
floor was too much for an overmatched Tech squad to overcome.
