After discussion, the referees reversed their original decision and called it "on the floor." Lindsey Harding puts up a jumper... ...Corinne Groves pulls down the rebound. Wanisha Smith has been fouled, She'd make both to put Duke up by 5. Carrem Gay looks to pass Alison Bales Emily Waner puts up a open 3 - she missed, but got her own rebound Abby Waner is wide open in the corner This Emily Waner 3 was perfect. Wake Cheerleaders Lindsey Harding is fouled by Tiffany Roulhac This shot was after the foul on the floor, so it didn't count. Harding inbounds after the foul Bales goes up... ...fouled. Duke continued to pressure after made baskets Layup by Bales was good. Lindsey Harding drives... ...then dishes to Abby who extends the lead to double digits. A bit of help for the sweeper, who doesn't know she's being trailed. Mitch for 3...didn't fall. Brittany Mitch presses Courteney Morris after a Deacon defensive rebound Corinne Groves and Joy Cheek battle for the ball. Both had outstanding games - a double-double for Groves, and 13 and 6 for Cheek in just 16 minutes. Wake's Alex Tchangoue cradles a rebound. Wanisha Smith is open in the corner Wanisha Smith would attempt a reverse layup and be fouled. Duke huddles before two Wanisha Smith free throws. Watching Wanisha's free throw (it went in) Alison Bales pulls in a long rebound... ...but is unable to convert this jumper Yolanda Lavender got the rebound, and Duke presses Carrem Gay goes strong to the hoop... ...the shot missed, but Courtney Morris got her with the body. Duke forces a Wake turnover in the press. A freethrow line jumper from Wanisha Smith. Duke was 10-30 from the floor in the first half. The refs were screened from this apparent foul... ...so Carrem got closer and put up this miss... ...which Joy rebounded, and she was fouled. She'd make both, part of her 7-7 FT afternoon. Joy Cheek has the offensive rebound... ...but this miss would essentially end the half, with Duke up 15. Alison Bales started out Duke's second half shooting with a miss... ...rebounded by Alex Tchangoue... ...who protected the basketball Wake's dance team during a quck Duke timeout Carrem Gay was chastised during this Duke full time out, as Coach G was very displeased with Duke's offense. Lindsey Harding surveys the Wake defense Duke had good passing on this possession. From Waner... ...in to Bales... ...out to Gay... ...then eventually to Wanisha Smith with 4 to shoot. She drove... ...put up the shot... ...but Groves once again was there for the rebound. Carrem Gay sees Abby in the corner... ...and while Coach G continues the discusson of Alison's 4th foul ("the worst call this entire season")... ...Abby puts up another 3 Joy Cheek pulls down another offensive rebound.... ...but is turned over. Wake got a 3, cutting Duke's lead to 8. Abby missed this layup... ...but kept the possession alive with an offensive rebound, dishing shortly after to Harding for a Duke second chance hoop. Coach G can't believe it. Coach Jackson can't belive it, either. ...but, regardless, Lindsey puts Duke back on track with a hoop. On the next possession, Lindsey attacks the basket again... ...and, after getting her own rebound... ...is hacked by Christen Brown Abby Waner and Tia Jackson Lindsey Harding, after making the first of two from the line Lindsey Harding made the second free throw. Abby Waner in Duke's full court press... With proper coaching, rebounding can make you smile. Lindsey Harding surveys the traffic Joy Cheek at the line Bridgette Mitchell exhorts her teammates, as Steve Barnes calls the game for Inside Access, and Chante Black records stats. Joy Cheek Mitch and Mitchell back into the game for Duke. It was a great day for Duke's bench, who collectively outscored Wake. Abby Waner comes out of the ballgame Wanisha Smith looks for the open Blue Devil Wanisha Smith sees Bridgette Mitchell, who would put the ball in the basket so quickly that I was out of focus. (Sorry!) Gale Valley, the Waner sisters, and Keturah Jackson on the Duke bench Wake spirit. Another board for Corinne Groves Joy Cheek converts from the lane, extending Duke's lead to 19 Abby missed this layup... ...but Bridgette was there for the rebound... ...and was fouled trying to stick it back. Bridgette Mitchell at the line for the second of two Joy Cheek is open... ...and Tiffany Roulhac got there late, committing her 5th foul. Duke huddle Positioning for a free throw rebound - but Cheek was perfect. This 3 attempt from Emily did not cure Duke's long range woes. Emily Waner inbounds... ...just about a hand-off to Alison... ...but yet another shot stays out. Time out Keturah Jackson Corinne Groves boxes out KJ 1st career three for Bridgette Mitchell!
