Ali scored Duke's first four points of the game, including a long jumper. Coach G was very positive about her first half play, Ali was the only starter not to be pulled after the first media time out. Unfortunately that strong start was curtailed by her second foul, trying to stop Gladden around the 8 minute mark of the first half. Ali sat the remainder of the period, but returned to show great maturity with 20 foul-free minutes in the second half. That feat was even more impressive given that FSU went to the basket almost every trip, and players seemed unsure just how physical they could be. Her twisting up-and-under move around the 3 minute mark was a senior video moment. And, in a verbally hostile environment, Alison looked very confident on the free throw line at crunch time.

Carrem put forth a great performance in each half, but in slightly different modes. In the first, Carrem was an offensive force, a great target for her teammates inside while Bales was on the bench. Carrem really showed some fire in a first half sequence - after being called for a travel which she viewed as a bump, she rejected a FSU shot on the other end, then scored on a great move. In the second half, with Ali back in the lineup, Carrem focused on defense, with 6 defensive boards and 2 blocks. In the waning minutes, she went down hard and came out of the game, hopefully nothing serious.

Nish had another good night, with excellent shooting, crisp passes to the open player, and above all the kind of solid defense that frustrated FSU's guards all evening. Wanisha also showed great maturity in taking good care of the basketball, and in handling frequent defensive mismatches.

Like the trip to Reynolds last week, many of Abby's good looks from long range just didn't fall. But that's in no way stopped her from being a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court. While her signature play was the three pointer in front of the FSU bench, her back-to-back steals in the first half and a Waner to Waner back to Waner fast break were equally entertaining.

Congrats to Lindsey for becoming Duke's all-time assist leader!

Like Abby, Lindsey also had a tough shooting night, but not from long range. Rarely in this game did she see an uncontested shot, and when she went strong to the basket there was usually significant contact, foul or not. So although her shots from the floor didn't fall, a perfect 7-7 from the line in the second half helped stymie FSU's comeback effort.

Emily had a solid night, burying a 3 during the Blue Team stretch, and hustling on defense in ways that don't show up in any traditional box score.

Joy bore much of the brunt of the FSU interior onslaught after Alison went out, a tough situation for a first year player to be placed in. Her second half lay-in from Abby gave Duke their largest lead of the night, but a nice first half basket was erased by a prior travel.

In addition to her huge three-pointer in the second half, Brittany was very effective on the boards in the first. Like Joy, it was difficult for her to battle some of FSU's bigs in the low blocks. 11 second half minutes in a tight game continues to underscore how far she has come in the rotation.

Keturah saw action only during the "Blue Team" stint, with two shots that didn't fall. On her second miss, a close-in layup, she unfortunately wasn't able to go right back to the rim again. As she put the ball on the floor in the paint, it was stolen by a smaller player, and Duke lost possession.

Bridgette also only saw first half action, coming in for the last 6 minutes of the half after Joy's second foul. She continued to hustle, constantly going for tie-ups, but losing the battle for the ball with Miller on a play that brought FSU within one. But on the very next play, she showed great touch in hitting Carrem under the basket with a perfect lob.
